How to check if your device is eSIM compatible

If you're seeing an error during activation, can’t scan a QR code, or don’t see any option to add an eSIM, it could mean your device isn't compatible—or that some settings need to be updated first. Let’s check if your device supports eSIM and what to do if it doesn’t.
Use this guide if you tried to activate an eSIM but:
You don’t see an option to add an eSIM in your settings
You can’t scan a QR code or activation link
You see errors during setup
Your device may not support eSIM, or some settings may need updating first.
Quick checks
Make sure your device is unlocked (not tied to another carrier).
Restart your phone if you just updated the system.
Confirm your QR code or activation link hasn’t expired.
Note: Devices sold in some regions (e.g., mainland China, some prepaid programs) may not support eSIM even if the model normally does.
Check compatibility by device
iPhone / iOS
Confirm your model: iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, or later (most iPads with cellular also support eSIM).
Go to:
Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM.If you don’t see this option:
Make sure you’re running the latest iOS.
Tap
Settings > General > Aboutand install any Carrier Settings Updates.If “Add eSIM” still doesn’t appear, your phone may be locked or not provisioned for eSIM.

Android (general)
⚠ eSIM support varies by manufacturer and region.
Go to:
Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs, orSettings > Connections > SIM Card Manager.
Look for Add eSIM or Download a SIM.
If you don’t see an option:
Ensure you’re running Android 13 or later.
Some models/variants (especially in APAC) may not include eSIM hardware.
Confirm using the manufacturer’s website.
Examples of supported models:
Google Pixel: Pixel 4 and later
Samsung Galaxy: S20/S21/S22/S23 and newer (except some US carrier variants)
